Painting in the Lakes with Mike Chaplin and Jenny Wheatley 2007

March 19-23 2007 at the Borrowdale Hotel, Cumbria

Over the last few years Jenny and Mike have been running a series of small and intensive painting courses in the Lake District, combining Mike’s interest in tone with Jenny’s knowledge of colour, to produce a unique painting experience. Group sizes are small, with no more than 14 students, and we are usually able to work both inside and out amongst the landscape during the week.

This year we are shifting venue a few hundred yards further down the road from our usual spot, to stay at the Borrowdale Hotel. This is a comfortable, family run venue with painting studio, and is situated very close to Derwent Water, just a walk across the road from the lake and mountains. There is a working farm next door, and a wealth of subject matter a short drive away, amongst the slate quarries or over the impressive passes.

The break starts when we meet for a talk and dinner on Monday at 7pm, then from early on Tuesday there is the opportunity to work intensively. This is a time when you can either pick Mike and Jenny’s brains whilst following your usual path, or try a quite different approach, that you may not have had the nerve to pursue when working alone!

The price for this break is £620 per person, to include all meals and tuition. There are no single supplements and only your bar bills are extra!
